Useful Information
DO I NEED TO BRING SOMETHING TO A SOUND MEDITATION?
We provide yoga mats, blankets, bolsters and pillows, however you are free to bring your own if you prefer.
WHAT TAKES PLACE DURING A TYPICAL SOUND MEDITATION?
All cell phones are to be silenced prior to entering the room. Once in the semi-dark room, you first find a spot. Then lay down, cover up and start to clear your mind. Prior to the meditation start, their will be a brief reading to help guide your meditation. After this, the lights are dimmed further and the meditation will start first with an array of singing bowls, which will then switch to the gongs for the majority of the meditation. The singing bowls will be played again after the gongs slow to signal the meditation coming to a close. Chimes may also be played at this time.
WHAT SOUND EQUITPMENT DO YOU USE?
We are lucky enough to have a 60" serial marked gong!! One of few in the country. We also have a 50", and a 40" gong along with a variety of crystal and Tibetan crystal bowls.
DOES THE SIZE OF THE GONGS MATTER?
Come and see for yourself! There is a different sound and frequency depending on the size. The 60" is my favorite and many others. A stretch goal is to the next largest size 80", which happens to be the largest made.
